The Pedagogical Council is a collegial governing body of the vocational college, the powers of which are determined by Article 37 of the Law of Ukraine on Vocational Education and the founding documents of the vocational college. Decisions of the Pedagogical Council, adopted in accordance with the legislation, are mandatory for all participants in the educational process. Such decisions are put into effect by orders of the director of the vocational college.
The composition of the Pedagogical Council is approved annually by the order of the director of the vocational college, who heads it. The structure of the Pedagogical Council's composition is such that not less than 75 percent of the total number of council members should be pedagogical and/or scientific and pedagogical workers of the educational institution, and not less than 10 percent should be elected representatives from among the students of the vocational college. Elected student representatives participate in the work of the Pedagogical Council when considering issues related to the education, living conditions, and leisure of those who study there, and during the consideration of other issues within the competence of this council, the norm regarding mandatory participation in its work does not apply.
